Friday Favorites || 9.15.17

I wish I could sit here & tell you how every night when I tuck the boys in bed, our routine flows beautifully & it's all puppies & sunshine with a side of bible story & prayers...but, it's not.  

Every night this week, it's been farts. Sorry for those of you who may hate this word, but sometimes that's just all you can call it. Yes we do read our bible story and pray. We hug & kiss good night. We even read their current favorite, hello, ninja...but we...,I mean they-
they fart, too. 

And it gets loud.

And stinky.

Then they absolutely lose their minds laughing. Conley loves it so much that he even learned to make the sound with his mouth & shouted, "I foo-ted(pooted)!" on a night when I thought they'd both already gone to sleep. Uncontrollable laughter. And even though I was tired...how can you not join in at that???

Ahhhh. Life as a boy mom.

I take it back. I wouldn't trade it for anything...farts and all.

But when they're doing that & they're 13. Daddy can have all that...😂

My sister gave me these to throw on one chilly evening this week, and y'all...I'm in love.  Now I have to find myself some!  They even saved me some skin when I tripped outside when I made an impromptu trip to the car before bed & I thought I seen a rat or some animal type shadow running across the sidewalk in front of me😩. Concrete dive🙋🏻. If I hadn't been covered from head to toe it'd have been a much nastier fall!

It's beginning to look a lot like...September

It's no secret that I love Christmas around here. And fall. And Halloween. And Thanksgiving. 🎅🏻

So as you can imagine, I am annoyingly giddy this time a year.

And so are my children. I joke all the time about how I am raising mini Clarks, but I'm pretty sure that's a fact. We've had Christmas lights strung to our bed at my moms house (we are there 3 nights a week for my job right now) for a month now as a night light. 

To top that... last night, Cam ask if we could put up a Christmas tree....

 "Not yet," I said, & yes...I was subconsciously thinking-W H O are you??  
That is until inspiration struck the next morning as I had to make a quick trip to the Dollar Store before work. 

You know I had to stop by the holiday section.🤓

🚦Orange lights. Leaves. Scare crows.

We'll make a fall tree! (And a Halloween tree for October...but that's besides the point)...☝🏻

My mom gave us her black tree she bought back about three years ago-if you don't have a gracious giver with an extra tree, I'd try looking at a thrift store!  Or-you know what I'm going to say...the dollar store😉.  I hear they are stocking Christmas this time of year, anyway!  Back to the fall things...I bought all of this for about 15.00 ( actually, a little less!). 

 Yes, it's a very simple concept and a very simple tree.  If I would have wanted to spend a fortune it could have been a gorgeous & elaborate tree. But that's not what I was after. I was after simple, basic, and fun.  Because in all honesty---this is a glorified night light😂

And just like that, we put our fall playlist on & started stringing our $6.00 lights!

  I cut up the $3.00 garland into small sections to make the most of it & then we topped it with our sweet $5.00 scarecrow💛.  

It made for a fun evening & a festive "night light" that will last until we're ready to transform it into a Halloween tree👻.  Not to mention, this will just be another fun tradition we can keep from year to year (while putting off our itch to decorate a Christmas tree a little longer).  

*I hope my Mr. isn't reading this...if so, all of this was a great investment to this weeks budget😁

H54F || Simple Saturday

The air was crisp & cool, the sky a bit dreary, the boys helped me decorate a little more for fall, & I had my first Pumpkin Spice Latte.  All has been right in my little simple world this week. 

But how can I talk about little things like that, when I think of all of the people that are having one or maybe the most troubling weeks of their lives with these storms, wild fires, & floods. 

I tend to compartmentalize my brain.  The here and now.  My life in my family of four to reduce the load.  There are so many things I need to pray & be burdened about (especially in my own family) & I worry that in my compartmentalizing, so many times I reduce the burden I feel for others (in particular, my own brother).  I'm praying for a  burden for others, because it's then that you really purpose the heart in prayer.  All the same, I think I do this innocently & as a coping mechanism so that I can be present, positive, & uplifting to my kids.  I think I say the word "balance" 45,343 times a year on this blog, but it is always a word I find myself running toward. 

Despite all that's happening in our world, how has your week been?  I'm going to keep it light-hearted here, in no way trying to ignore the problems others are facing, but to maybe be a bright & simple spot in someone else's day.

one. PSL's are back

Whatever your taste of fall is, whether it be a flavored coffee, baked goods, or chocolate shaped Halloween creatures (I like it all) everything is making it's seasonal appearance!  It definitely sets the mood for the cozy season ahead...

two.  hair probs

No one cares.  I know this.  BUT I haven't had my hair cut or colored since April😂😱 & I am (was until I was late posting) dying with excitement for my appointment.  I am (was) really thinking of cutting it shorter (something I haven't done since I was a freshman in high school).  I will probably  didn't ( ) bawl my eyes out, but I'm SO ready for a change & something with less work. 

So far so good...I keep reaching for something that isn't there.
 The real story will be if I can style it myself...that could be a deal breaker!
