Shared Boys Room: Nursery/Toddler Room

I knew the moment we found out we were pregnant with Baby #2 that I would have to be creative with what I wanted to do with the future "nursery/toddler room."  I knew it would be a shared nursery since we would be living in an apartment.  I initially had a gut feeling that we were having a girl, so I was really diving into the gender neutral-esque style.  But lo & behold...we found out shortly after that we were going to have two boys!  That sent me into a frenzy, but on the bright side...it was an easier route to take;)

I really love eclectic modern looks with a little bit of rustic/antique/vintage-y touch.  I don't have much to buy (except for the toddler bed & dresser) -thank you, amazon & ikea for cheap options!- as much of what I had with Cam will work perfectly!  Just a few touches to include our new baby boy's name in the mix;)  Here is a little inspiration board including the things that I have on my to do list...I can't wait to see it all come together!

Other things on my list include: this lantern,  this-this-this pennant (couldn't choose!) & two Pretend with Poppins animals (that I'm going to let Cam pick out) to live snuggly on the boys pillows;) all from the mustard seed!

I also ordered two custom quilts from etsy (shout out to Simply Stitched by Sara! who also gave me some freebies in my package as well<3) for bedspreads as soon as I found out baby was a boy:)  I am so happy with how they turned out...it was such a hard decision with so many beautiful fabrics to choose from these days!  I'm in love with the animals & how well they match my vision for the "boy cave.";)  Not to mention, the "hello bear" fabric was created by an old cheerleading coach from Franklin, NC.  Isn't that such a coincidence that I chose hers without even knowing?  Her fabrics are amazing!  Check all of them out here.

P.S. Is it terrible that as soon as I get the Mr. to hang shelves, our Halloween/Fall books are going up on display?  #soexcited #fallismyfavorite

Style Finder: On The Go Summer Maternity

I haven't done a Style Finder post since oh, last September maybe?  Lol.  But they are so fun, and it's especially fun when your pregnant because it is challenging.  I love the challenge of how to dress an ever-growing baby bump.  I also love that with browsing inspiration on pinterest you can pretty much come up with endless amounts of ideas as to what to do with all of those "I have nothing to wear" pieces you keep stored up in your closet!

And that brings us to a piece I have hunted all summer.  The denim vest.  Ahhhh, the denim vest.  Not that I could button it up at this point or anything...I have looked all summer for one that suits "me."  I don't want fringy sleeves, rhinestone/stud details, or a super acidy wash...just a classic, reasonably priced classic denim vest.  I have yet to find one that I am crazy about!  Kinda crazy that's so hard to find, right?  So, being that I'm in North Dakota and the breeze is picking up a bit (try 50 - 60mph)...I decided to just use one of my long sleeve denim shirts to do the job.
I am pretty sure Kristen Cavallari makes up 99.9% of my Maternity board on Pinterest because she dresses absolutely adorable.  I love every outfit she goes out in when she is pregnant.  And I 'm pretty sure she's pregnant again?  Bring on the cute outfits!  This particular look is one of my favorite on the go looks from her.  Maybe it's just because I had a similar skirt & it's hard to beat a maxi skirt any day of the week;)  I got my skirt on sale last summer at JCPennys for like $10...score!  I don't think it is still there, but there are tons of options out there!  Here is a similar.  You can't go wrong with black & white stripes-they are kind of like polka dots ;)<3
Happy Tuesday, everyone!

25 Weeks

This is Week #:  24 Weeks (last week of my 6th month...WOW)  But I did "25" because I will be Saturday!  Outtakes from this picture below;) aka the best part...
Total Weight Gain:  I don't know, haven't been to a recent check up & do not have a scale yet.
What I am wearing:  Pretty much sweat clothes and pajama pants.  All I've been doing this past month is traveling/moving/packing/unpacking, etc.  You get the picture!  I've got to get back into the swing of dressing cute again...  I know it will make me feel better!
Favorite accessory/piece of clothing:  Do t-shirts and soffe shorts count this month?
Body woes:  My whole body has ached this month.  I can't sleep.
Best part of week:  Every time I feel baby move.  It amazes me how God brings life into this world.  I am so humbled and grateful to be a mommy!<3
Feel anything in there?  He is something else!  Or maybe I just forgot how much Cam moved...or maybe I'm in for the decathlon of my life & I will have another Cam running around.  Prayers, please:)  Hehe!
Gives me the Creeps:  Just in a cleaning everything mode.  Especially in an apartment...I threw everything in the garbage that the previous attendants left behind.  The Mr. wasn't to thrilled to be missing the shower curtain for a couple of days...oops!
Zzzzz Pattern:  Like I mentioned before, I 'm not sleeping too well.  I actually woke up at 3 am this morning and never went back to sleep...
Gender:  BOY
Belly Button Metamorphasis:  Pop!
I’m Craving:  Hmmmm, strawberries, blueberries, chocolate
Working Out Regimen:  Ummmm, moving.  :/
Mood (s):  This move has been emotionally draining & difficult to adjust to, but every time I see Cam run to his daddy when he gets home from work, I know I made the right decision.  I have peace in knowing that God is in control & everything will work out perfectly:)  I don't know what I'd do without faith & the peace He gives!
I can’t wait for:  Fall & Winter at The Mustard Seed.  Finally getting into see a doctor here (I'm getting very anxious to be settled if this is where I am going to be for delivery).  Getting this apartment in order...it's driving me crazy that my body won't let me do it all in a day! || I did start the boys room...isn't that little "Dapper" pennant flag DARLING?  It's from The Mustard Seed wink wink;) ||  I'm excited to see my sister who is coming to visit in a couple of weeks & our September visit home.  And of course, I can't wait to meet my sweet baby boy...but I want to enjoy everyday of pregnancy that I can!

Apartment Therapy

Never has the saying, "Home is wherever I am with you," had more significance.  No, North Dakota is not our home.  Our home is being together.  But while were together, we do have a chance to make  this cute little apartment just as warm & cozy as we'd like it to be!
It was definitely a man cave...as you can see;)  Mismatched chairs, Christmas tree in July, clothes packed in trash bags.  It cracks me up looking at these pictures!

The week we left North Carolina, I felt so rushed & emotionally drained.  What energy I had was spent on seeing family, working at our booth for the Mustard Seed, & packing late at night when I could.  We got to a point where we just had to close the Uhaul door & plan to store the rest at my mom's house.  That killed me.  I also wanted to clean the house, but sometimes...there are things you just have to let go (especially when you have a baby to think of).  I'm kind of learning the same thing here as I am unpacking everything!

I want Cam to feel as secure coming here as he did back at our house in North Carolina.  It always made me tickled to hear him say, "I wanna go to Mommy's house," because. well, he should love to be home!  Some of my best childhood memories were made in my childhood home & I want nothing less for my babies.  So, here are a few inspirational pictures and dream boards as I nest away the next couple of weeks;)  I'm thinking a lot of white to brighten the space with accents of black & bright colors from things I have collected from our home in NC.

We are also going to be tossing the diapers and pull-ups during the day & sliding on these cutie patooties.  We are getting nowhere with attempting potty training with assistance from the old faithfuls.  But, can I just say, I never realized how cute little boy underwear could be!  They are stinking adorable.  Crossing my fingers for better results with these!  Surely Ninja Turtles, "Wobble Dobble" (Paw Patrol), & chocolate will motivate that little stinker into taking action (especially before little brother comes!;)

Sweatpant Explorers

Happy Saturday!  It's been a slow Saturday morning around here (my favorite), leaving just enough time for me to work on our Fall and Winter inventory for The Mustard Seed.  To put me in the spirit, I am watching Deck the Halls on QVC (Christmas in July Sale) which could be dangerous because I ordered a 9 ft Christmas tree last year...Any one else?

I kid you not, the commentary just heard (and I quote) said it was only a MONTH until we will all start putting out "Harvest" decorations...I almost jumped up off the couch & did a pregnant backhandspring;)  Even though I'm not totally sure that's possible!  Which also means...I am that much closer to meeting Baby #2!
For some reason this pregnancy has flown by so incredibly fast.  I feel so behind in everything I need to have done at this point.  I have so much to do before little brother comes!  Organize clothes, Double Stroller, coming home outfit, nursery stocked & cute...
Yesterday, Cam & I went to the Women's Health Center & signed a release for my medical information so that I can schedule my first doctors appointment here in North Dakota.  I am anxious to get to see our baby boy this month again because he is sure letting me know he is in there at this point!  HOLY baby karate kicks!  I don't know if it's just North Dakota or the little night party happening in my bump...but I can NOT sleep.
Aside from the doctor, we spent most of the day on the playground and exploring the local spots in our sweatclothes.  I had a moment where I had a giggle over how we have looked since we came to North Dakota, but as of Monday, the Mr. went back to working full time & that left all of our belongings in the garage.  I have carried in and organized everything I can safely carry, so at this point it is all a waiting game.  That means I have to be content with our sweat clothes until he has a little time (& help) to bring the rest in!

If you know me, you know my make this apartment a home obsession is kicking in to full throttle, or maybe it is 10 times worse with the nesting mode kicking in?  Idk.  All I know is that I have so many ideas for this place and am ready to get started.  Praying for some weekend warriors to come in and help us get started!

As for yesterday's sweatpant expedition... we also went to have lunch, got stuck in a major traffic jam where Cam took his cat nap for the day, and then drove around downtown and stopped in to a local coffee shop for a yummy smoothie.  I quote Cam in saying, "Mmmmm, delicious!"  We may have just found a new favorite stop;)  I am super proud of myself for getting out and exploring.  We may just drive down to the farmers market this morning after Cam wakes up.  They have asked me to do a booth for the Mustard Seed every Saturday morning and at their Thursday night festivals this summer...so I am pretty excited at that opportunity!  God is good, isn't he?
Speaking of the Mustard Seed, if you're interested, we are having a little promotion on our website this weekend as a "thank you" for all the love and support shown since our opening on July 3rd.  Log on, shop away, and enter the coupon code THANK YOU at checkout to receive a FREE "Little Book of Big Ideas ($6 Value) and a sample of our Eco Star Crayons:)

Summer Road Trip: Day 3 & The Weekend

I am still trying to settle in & rest from last week.  Between moving, the travel, living from post to post, & trying to launch a business/website over the weekend, I'm about one screw short!  But we are here!  It's been an emotional week for all of us but we are looking up & trusting God's plan.

We arrived in Williston, ND late Thursday night.  Enough time to crawl in the bed & try to sleep even though it is daylight outside!  Yep, it doesn't get dark here until about 11pm.  Cam is enjoying that because his bedtime has become non-existent since we lose track of time...little stinker!
Friday, Saturday, & Sunday were much like a vacation to us except we kind of felt like we were living out of our car since we were unable to get in our apartment until Sunday night.  Cade gave us a tour of the town, we ate out way too much, the boys got new haircuts, Cam & I had our first golf trip & we spent most of our time at what I'd like to think of as the gem of the city....lol.  It's a little place called the ARC (Area Recreation Center).

The ARC has an two indoor playground, one of which is in a kiddie pool.  Lazy river?  You got it.  Huge water slides?   Check!  Hot tubs.  Indoor surfing (fascinating to one particular little boy).  It really is amazing...and that is just the pool park portion.  You can pretty much find any sport or activity imaginable.  We went ahead & got a membership so I am pretty excited to have that available about two miles from our apartment:)

As it's Wednesday now, & I've been working on this post since Monday, we are slowly working on a schedule to fall into.  Most days this week have been spent at our playground right beside the apartment & working on our website that launched Monday...check it out!  www.themustardseedchildrenboutique.com.
I just finished adding all our appliqué pieces yesterday (despite the fact that we have no iron in sight in this apartment...cringe!)  Sorry for the wrinkles, iron to be purchased soon!  If you don't already, follow us on social media outlets that can be found on our website...Grand opening promotions coming soon:)

Sunday we had to take our Uhaul back to Minot, ND.  Thats right, hometown of Josh Duhmal.  Okay, maybe I'm the only one that knows that, but the Mr. humors me.  He took me to Minot State University which is where Mr. Duhmal played quarterback for the Beavers.
We also squeezed in a trip to the zoo & air museum while we were there, which Cam was ecstatic about.  He was all about animals, choochoos, & planes that day.  How cool is it that he is obsessed with "Planes" & "Dusty the Crop Duster" right now, & he was able to see "the real Dusty" in action all the two hour drive to Minot long;) #happycamper

We still haven't got to move our things into the apartment, but we are staying there.  Cam & I are pretty much living out of our suitcases & constant laundry cycles until then...PJ's & sweat clothes all day every day.  I hope you all are having a great week!  ;)

Summer Roadtrip: Day 2

Yesterday, we started out in Columbia, MO.  We decided to eat a slow breakfast at the Cracker Barrel since it was coming a torrential downpour in hopes it would slack off before we starting traveling for the day.  You can imagine dragging a two year old through the general store entrance, "I need toys, mommy!  I need toys, daddy!"  Maybe not such a good idea after all...
Cam has this weird obsession with hot dogs.  To my knowledge, the kid had never tried hotdogs before until last week.  I don't know if it's the Mickey Mouse song or if he just thinks they look good, but he talks about them all the time.  "Hot dogs" & "forty dollars" are his coined lines when he has nothing else to say.  Lo & behold he started getting really excited about something out the window.  Cade & I looked, didn't see anything but acknowledged his excitement & agreed whatever he had seen was very cool.  Not a minute later, we spotted what he had seen.  A huge Oscar Meyer weiner mobile pulled out at the stop light across the street.  Cam's trip was made.
A few other honorable mentions: Cam is learning to master saying "You got it, dude!" #cutestthingever.  He does very strange & random things sometimes.  I do not know what is going through that little mind of his or where he seen/heard such things, but he is an interesting little character.  I mean, why wouldn't you just pour your fruit cup out in your lap while going down the road?  When you ask what he wants for a meal he always responds with, "I won appa juice."  He spontaneously introduced himself to two little twin girls at a Burger King playground with, "Hi!  I Cam!"  He has loved every time we cross a bridge or see a "choo choo train."  He says, "Look mommy!  I won try again, mommy!"  He also insists he wants to jump (quite the exaggerator as he has to be pulled off the diving board;).  And he randomly roars at the top of his lungs & grins.  He can also be found swiping bread & sticking butter up his nose during dinner.

Every evening before we turn in for the night, we let him jump on the bed to get his energy out.  We may regret it one day, but it sure does the trick!  He loves it.  I do have to take a break from playing every now & then though because he can tire someone out quick playing!  Last night during my break he ran over & without missing a beat said, "What's the problem, mommy?  Cade & I both looked at each other to see if we both heard what we thought we heard.  Sure enough...he kept saying it every time we stopped playing.  SO.  FUNNY.
He often asks where we are at & he always attempts to say the places name in the cutest little voice possible.  It rained almost the entire day, hard.  This girl is very thankful to the Lord for traveling safety!  I know everyone has been praying & we appreciate it so much.  Cam has been a true trooper during this whole trip & I couldn't have asked for a better time (even though I am definitely getting sore & feeling the trip at this point & Ony refuses to use the bathroom).  If we can pull one more day of it, we will have it behind us!
Happy Friday Eve:)

Summer Roadtrip: Day 1

It's been a while since I last posted & so much has happened!  I'll just pick up with the present time & talk about our fourth maybe this weekend.  Where to start?  I picked up a map to journal all about our trip & I'd like to frame it & continue to map out any other road trips we attempt...but we will see!  We left our hometown around 8:30 am Tuesday morning heading out on our 30 hour road trip.  Yeah.  30 hours.  With a toddler, pregnant girl, & 50+lbs of Golden Doodle.  We are crazy people.
Our first stop was Chick-fil-a in Tennessee, a very familiar place to us.  Within the first 30 seconds of our stop, Honor (or you may often hear us refer to her as "Ony") lunged out of the 4Runner & onto a grassy median with oncoming traffic inches away.  Heart attack #1...check!  Maybe she just needed to go to the bathroom or perhaps it was a last resort to the backseat shenanigans that involved Cam using her head as a carpenters bench.  We may never know.

Not to much further down the road, I guess Cam decided he needed to give Ony a pep talk.  "I love you, Ony.  Ony, don't be shy!"  On a little side note, he rarely dishes out the ily...usually it's a "you" or "so much," but yes, he will totally blurt it out for his Ony dog.  I guess she kind of deserves it since she's such a great sport...Cuteness overload.
READER DISCRETION ADVISED: this is gross!  My favorite moment so far, was not pretty at the time, but it is one for the books!  It's safe to say, potty training has been put on hold until this trip is over.  Everytime we go into a bathroom, Cam persistently insists "No mommy, I not poop!"  Well this one particular stop in Ina, Illinois, was a little different.  We had smelled the need to stop as he snoozed away going down the interstate.  Cade toted him into the gas station for me & quickly passed him over to me once we made it to the restrooms.  I side hipped him & trudged into the bathroom not having a clue what we were in for.
As I sat him down inside the stall, I looked down in terror as I realized the poop had coated my entire arm (watch included).  I somehow used my go go gadget arm to try & one hand a zipper to get the wipes out of the bag all why Cam continued his defense that he "didn't poop."  After I cleaned my arm the best I could, I decided it was time to tackle Cam.  I ended up having to strip him down to his new diaper & carry him out of the bathroom to get a new change of clothes.  Of course, I walked out to find a line of people staring at me with a half nude toddler & my shirt pushed up over my whale of a baby bump.  I guess I can be thankful for that, because as I realized & scrambled to get it down, Cade pointed out I had poop all over my shirt...

At one point during the repetitive cycle of "I not poop, mommy!" I couldn't help but breakdown in laughter & say, "Cam!  YES, YOU DID!  Look!"  He grinned & pointed his finger at the diaper bag, "Look mommy!  I poop on mommy's bag!"  Ahhhh, confession at it's finest.
We are currently cruising down the exciting interstates of Iowa (while Ony creeps behind my head & Cam snoozes) with a goal of ending up in South Dakota tonight.  My heart hurts a lot thinking about our goodbyes Monday night but I know they are only temporary & that God will take care of us & bring us all back together soon.  In fact, one day I have a feeling we will look back on this time & be able to laugh at our memories of this time.  The adventure continues...until then,
XOXO:)

Fourth Prep

We are only a couple days away from the epitome of summer!  The Fourth of July...one of my favorite holidays.  What are your plans?  I know we have lots of fireworks in store, maybe a popsicle or two, & some floating around the lake to do:)  But before that, I have another baby doctor appointment.  I have to pick the Mr. up at the airport & make sure everything is perfect for our Mustard Seed launch:)  Piece of crumb cake, right?
In spirit of all things red, white, & blue, I thought I'd share some of my favorite things floating around the stores & on Pinterest this year to make things a little more festive!
There is nothing more "America in the summertime" than a baseball cap.  My hair just isn't cooperating right now & this little baby is a great cover up!  And who in the world can resist a Snoopy float?  I also decided to go the Cam kid friendly route for snacks this year, & am planning to make these popsicles & these festive rice krispy treats.  You can't forget the cute firecracker straws (we will have these in our shop...wink wink!)  What better way to enjoy it all than in this comfy cozy lightweight dress & necklace?:)  And for the boys, I love this little shirt here.  It has fit Cam two years in a row, & will definitely be recycled for little brother in the future.  Now I think I've upped my excitement about it all another notch...
Happy Holiday prepping everyone!
