2018 Easter Basket Favorites

I always find myself annoyingly giddy over holiday things.
If you haven't figured that out by now...

I love putting together easter baskets!  I think it is just what I need to convince myself to hop on the bandwagon & welcome the inevitable spring season that is upon us.  You guys, when Cam was a baby, I was so impractical with e v e r y t h i n g I bought for Christmas & other holidays.  I mean, yes it's a time for fun things, but let's not go overboard with buying just to buy junk -mmmmk???
(Totally talking to myself here...๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป‍♀️)

With almost 5 years of mommin under my belt ๐Ÿฅ‹(that's laugh worthy, right? #whatdoiknow) I am learning that holiday's are a great excuse to give your kids things "THEY NEED" in a fun way!  No more dippy toys (unless they are dollar bin adorable) or loads of candy you have to constantly deny your kids for the sake of a full pretty basket or because the genius marketing experts convince you that's the way it should be done.

Instead, this year my list includes a beach/travel bag that doubles as an "Easter basket," pair of summer shoes, water bottles (cuz theyre always stealin' their mama's) sunnies, their bowties for Easter Sunday church, a star wars coffee chocolate milk mug (drinking chocolate coffee in the nook is a social thing in the Adams Abode), some fun graphic tee's (because, hello, what kid isn't always needing clothes at the rate they grow??) & a few cheapies from the Dollar Store or dollar bin that you know they'll love & use.
Bubbles, playdough, chapstick, bandaids, anyone?
natives | tote | mug | tee | water bottle | sunnies | bowtie
And if you ask me, the Dollar Store & or Tree always has fun options for grass & any other little plastic egg fillers you may want to add!  I can't help but love Home Goods or TJMaxx for the candy you do buy for the baskets, because I always think its packaging and uniqueness make it look like it came straight from April Valley! ๐ŸŒท
But what am I saying, of course it did.

(or the North Pole-I know, always reverting back to Christmas over here...)  ๐Ÿคถ๐Ÿผ

I know I won't get the chance, but I also love the idea of "peeping" at your local general store or World Market because they have the coolest vintage/old school toys if you DO want to go the toy route:).

Wishing you a fun time filling those little baskets (or beach bags) over the next few weeks๐Ÿ’•
What are the hot items on your Easter Bunny's list?๐Ÿฐ

30 Things I Learned During My 20’s

Over the past couple of weeks, as the time trickled down for the big day when I officially turned "thirty," I found myself with a lot of time dedicated to reflection over how I have changed in the past decade & all the things I've learned & ways in which I've grown.  I mean, I graduated college, got married, I began this blog, earned my masters degree, had two babies, and am in my 5th year of practicing as a speech language pathologist.  It's hard to imagine a decade in the future will EVER be that eventful again, right??

Well into adulthood at this point of my life, I still feel like my teenage self in many ways.  Despite that, it is easy to see the ways in which I have changed for the better.  I think that's a positive thing to cherish with age & I hope it just keeps getting better.  All that hoop-la prompted this little post of 30 things I've learned during my twenties.  I've kept this running list in the note section of my phone the last couple of weeks and jotted down my thoughts as they came to me during the reflection type goes!

1. I’ve learned to be inspired, but stay true to myself.
2. A personal heartfelt & intentional prayer life is something you have to fight for.
3. Everything in moderation.
4. A content life is the best life. We look around us, and we don’t have to look far with our social media obsessed culture, and see all these beautiful things we don’t have. It can control us if we allow it to, distracting us from the beautiful parts of our own life!  There isn’t a materialistic thing that exists that is worth drowning in debt or worrying over.
5. Love is not a feeling, love is a choice. Love is something you have to fight for everyday of your life. But it’s 100% worth the fight.
6. The second you have a baby, prepare for time to double, okay triple, in speed.
7. Waking early > staying up late (unless your babies find you๐Ÿ˜œ)
8.  You can do anything you put your mind to if you seek Gods guidance & provision.  Like earn a masters degree in speech Language pathology (even though you find yourself unexpectedly pregnant halfway through the program) ๐Ÿ˜‹
9. If you want to be happy, then be.
10. Don’t take yourself too seriously. (Says the most serious person ever...I’m working on it!)
11. Be thankful, but never get comfortable.
12. Coffee is a best friend & side kick.
13. Take care and value what God has blessed you with. I sit back and observe my boys with a new toy. At first, it is a cherished prized possession, but over time (and a short period of time at that) they set their eyes on another prize and that you often becomes broken, lost, or at the bottom of a toy chest. They don’t know this, but I’ve been watching my nana and papa the past years they have kept my boys, and am both amazed and influenced at how they care for what they have. I mean, anyone with a dryer as old as ME deserves respect! New isn’t always better-especially when you owe for it!
14. Home is where your family is together.
15. Technology sucks the life out of me.
16. Dinner around the table with your family with quiet and no distractions-just us, a chance to pray together, enjoy our food, and good conversation-turns out to be the most important time of the day. And when our kids will actually share vs when they are just being picked up from school/nana's๐Ÿ˜œ
17. Saying no is way harder than saying yes. It takes a deeper love to do so.
18. A bubble bath can solve world problems. Okay maybe just my own!
19. Don’t be afraid to be wrong & openly admit when you are.
20. Embrace your differences respectfully.
21. Things worth having are hard work and never easy.
22. Thank you cards are important. I kinda quit after getting married but I’m going to start back. It’s the best way I know to express my appreciation & love.
23. It’s ok to take time to rest & just “be.”
24. You can’t do everything.
25. Be you and be proud of it.
26. Eating your words becomes the fourth meal.
27. Be present. I think I have to remind myself of this every second with the world of distractions we live in-but I’ll never quit.
28. There is beauty to be found in every day and every situation.
29. It doesn’t matter what people think, you will always have some who have a different opinion. Give it to God & move on!
30. And last but not least...never dread or feel sad about a number on your birthday cake! Yes, even 30๐Ÿ˜‰  I once heard that the time we are currently living in is called the “present” because every day is a gift from God. I love that & think about it often.

The day I turned 20 feels like a lifetime ago. So much has happened in the last ten years and I’ve changed and grown so much. It will be fun to see what I can add to the list in the next 10 years.  Should I start a running list now??

Happy Tuesday!
*or maybe not so happy if you consider that sickness has visited our abode again

I always pick the biggest, most expensive one when I have a reward.
Anyone else?  Other than that, I'm very money savvy @ Starby's...
Also, walked outside to a winter wonderland❄️

12 p.m.
Birthday gift  card = quick easter basket run for boy's easter baskets!
(And I couldn't resist that sweet rabbit for the front porch, either...)
Can you believe Easter is just a couple of weeks away??

1 p. m.
Weekly grocery haul without stepping inside the store.  My favorite.
Also, the little guy that helped me load said everyone had been asking where the sunshine went.
His reply..."I guess the sun just has dandruff!"
So stinkin' cute.☀️❄️☺️

2 p. m.
I'll take a little bit of hard work toward an extra 218 calories for my cupcake.๐Ÿ‘ฏ‍♀️

3 p.m.
Always feeding hungry boys!  I don't think this will have changed in the next ten years.

4 p. m.
Cupcake run!  Decisions, decisions!๐Ÿค”

5 p. m.
If you think we were able to not at least let those boys test taste ONE cupcake before dinner, you are bonkers.  That's all we heard on the way home..they annihilated the extra & I quickly had to throw it in the trash before they ruined their supper.

6 p.m.
Taco night!  And I failed miserably at my first attempt for some homemade guac...

7 p. m.
Look who joined!

7 p.m.
Yep.  Dishes still look the same at thirty.

8 p.m.
Skipping bathtime for movie night since we have no where to be tomorrow...the boys chose Cool Runnings.  But, unless dinosaurs are eating people...we never make it through an entire movie.๐Ÿฆ–

9 p.m.
Good night, thirty!๐Ÿง–๐Ÿป‍♀️

I don’t typically make a big deal about my birthday & yes, it still felt like another day...but, I think milestone birthdays are something special.  It has been a time of great reflection for me (and yep, I have another post on that๐Ÿคช). Something to celebrate!  Something that only my Heavenly Father above could gift!

I'm excited to see what happens this decade.

It will be cool to see how life changes in ten more years...huh?

Didn’t mean to get all sappy!
H A P P Y  F R I D A Y!
Also, given that my last post was at 9 pm last night...
