Snow Days

There's no day like a snow day!  I should know, we've practically had two weeks worth of them.  We've maxed out our Netflix account watching way too many episodes of Once Upon A Time, had a king-sized breakfast almost every morning, crafted, played hide and seek, & snagged every chance to "slide" that we could.  We got to mark all of these things + making a snowman & snowangels off our winter bucket list, but still no snow cream.  That might be a good thing, because I definitely haven't needed any extra food to binge on while being shut indoors!

February brought the first snow that Cam has actually been able to get outside to sled & I think he actually understands what snow is now.  He loved throwing snow balls, sliding, but his most favorite had to be riding the four wheeler around in circles.  He would scream & cry "ready to go!  ready to go!"  every time someone tried to stop.  If they let him get off & he seen the four wheeler back in action, he would waddle his way toward it- no matter the distance.

I've overheard many people saying they can't wait to get out of the house, or that they felt like they will go crazy if they have to be shut up anymore.  I have to say, that hasn't bothered me one bit.  One of my favorite feelings in the world, is being cozy & warm inside as the snow tumbles down snugging us away in our home.  It forces everyone to slow down & experience life.  We have made the most of every minute of our time & this impromptu winter vacation:)  I am pretty sure I will dream about this winter for years to come!  Now I have heard next week is going to bring spring like weather for all of you down & out with the winter blues.

Organization Is My Middle Name

Actually, thats not true.  But I do try!  Especially at the beginning of the new year.  This post has been in the making since January One...I've just not been "organized" to publish it.  I have kept a picture diary of everything I've been trying as I attempt to manage the craziness that is life.  On my to do list this year is finally printing & displaying all of the pictures I have abandoned and left in the digital world.  I'm really looking into these chatbooks & these pinhole press baby books too!  Wouldn't that be a great idea for those you don't have room to display in a frame?  I've got a lot of work to do!
I also really want to cook & make the dinner table a daily routine.  In this day & age in our fast paced lives, its becoming a thing of the past.  But I have a big passion to make it a permanent fixture in our home no matter the circumstances!  Since Cade has actually been home this month, I have even more motivation with his extra {larger} mouth to feed.  I've been pretty successful thanks to my menu, Pinterest, cookbooks, & my trusty three-legged crockpot!  Now Cade is on a health kick...& all we have in stock is chicken, brown rice, & vegetables...perhaps it's time for a little creativity & imagination in the kitchen?

Ever since I watched Life As We Know It (weirdly obsessed with the house & Katherine Heigl's style in this movie), I have dreamed of having a little place similar to their little calendar hub.   I really don't know what else to call it?   I tried to find a picture of what I am referring to, but no luck.  This is a far cry from what they have in the movie, but this is what we have right now.  It has turned out to be great for having a quick place to stick the weeks recipes & jot down anything important coming up.  It has also been a great place to keep a running grocery list, pin coupons, & display a very special card from my Aunt Karen.
And lastly, cutting the cost on the coffee!  I am a coffee-o-holic.  I loooovvvveee it.  Almost too much. The only problem is, I waste a lot!  I usually make a pot every morning & leave it in hopes that the Mr will take care of the rest.  9 times out of 10... he leaves it and it is thrown out.  Talk about a lot of money trickling down the drain!  I finally decided to try and pour the morning leftovers into a mason jar & stick in the refrigerator for a little treat after dinner...iced coffee.  Mmmmmm.  Now that's what I'm talking about!  Turns out-brilliant beyond brilliant idea:)
Warm wishes on this brrrrrrr cold Thursday!
Another snow day at home & it looks as if it is going to be the same routine for tomorrow:)
No complaints here!  I love every minute with my baby.
P.S.  Maybe iced coffee isn't such a great idea this week?

Snow+Weekend Rambles

Our house was so sweet this weekend!  So full of love & bright colors that it just might convince you that spring is on the way.  Except for the fact that we finally have a huge forecast for snow this week.  In fact, we are actually soaking in our first. real. snow day!   So far we have only seen a few flakes & some ice, but I think in about an hour we are supposed to be right in the middle of a big snow storm.  What would I know though, for the last two hours we have been watching Lightening McQueen:)  Nonetheless, our hot chocolate station is in standby mode & our snow watching station is ready & waiting...bring on the snow!  P.S. Anyone have any good ideas for homemade sleds?
How was your Valentines Day?  Ours was perfect:)  Perfection is health & being together!  And to make it even more perfect, it came on a Saturday.  The only thing better than a Saturday in general, is for it to be Valentines Day on a Saturday!  My chalkboard was a constant reminder of the reason we can celebrate this sweet day.  Thank you Lord, for loving us & for those you have given us to love!

To begin the day, the Mr whipped up a big breakfast & most of it ended up on Cam's head or in Ony's mouth.  If he doesn't slow down with the biscuits & gravy making kick, I'm pretty sure I will be a 1,000 lbs heavier by summer.  Somehow, Cam translated Valentines Day into Dance Party day.  Because I swear, we had a  dance off from dawn til' dusk.  His only rule is that Cade & I did not dance together.  That was a big no no...anything else was fair game.  We ended the dance party with a dinner too big for my stomach to handle.  But I at least attempted to make a dent in it, squeeze in a few chocolate covered strawberries & an episode of Once Upon A Time:)
If it really snows like they predict it will, here are a few fun recipes to try while cooped up inside...snow cream, cookies & cream hot chocolate, & grilled cheese roll ups!  Can you imagine how perfect these grilled cheese roll ups would be to dip in a bowl of tomato soup?  Better yet...try making a variety with peanut butter roll-ups too!  Mmmm mmmm mmmm.  Perfect sledding party foods!

I hope you had a great Valentines weekend with the ones you love.
Wishing you the happiest of Mondays & lots of snow!

Happy Valentines Day!

Do you remember Valentines Day when you were a kid?  Working in the school, I am reminded of all the Valentine parties & late night of sorting through my cards making sure I didn't give send any of the boys one with the wrong message.  I was a little OCD & fearful of cooties back then!  I think I may have drove my mom to Valentine insanity.  And every kid I came across yesterday, reminded me that in their language, it's pronounced "Valentimes Day," Ms. Cassidy.

In toddler news, my little guy may just have a new favorite holiday.  I can't believe all of the chocolate candy we have in our house right now!  I think he has a grand total of 3 chocolate puppies & 4 chocolate trucks.  That's not good for mama, guys!  Chocolate is my weakness!  And he knows that he has something very yummy that he's not allowed to have a lot of...  I foresee many peeeassse episodes in our future.
What are your plans this evening?  We missed A Charlie Brown Valentine on ABC last night, so I am definitely planning to pop some popcorn, maybe whip up some hot chocolate, & snuggle with Cam to watch that & then maybe save Valentines Day for a flick the Mr.  I am pretty sure I haven't seen that movie in years & it's a classic in my book!  I hope you all have a fun day with your loves:)

Weekend Tales

We celebrated the 100th day of school today.  I can't believe I've already logged 100 days in the school system.  It seems like it was just yesterday that I started my first job in the nursing home!  You know...  you never know where God will take you over the course of a year.  I've been thinking about that a lot lately.  I love that he is the author of my life.  My prayer is that I won't try to take the pen over & write over His perfect plan!  My worry & tendency to take matters into my own hands are one of my many weaknesses.  Thankful to be reminded that HE is in control:)
A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.  Proverbs 16:9

I have to say, our weekend was quite dreamy.  Netflix & a big bowl of popcorn.  Brunch cooked by the Mr & homemade Valentines.  Outdoors & sunshine.  Good food & company.  You just can't beat it!  How many more days til' Friday again??

BTW.  These days I'm feeling like our family is morphing into the Newtons.  Chances are, if your not a 90's kid, you have no clue who that is.  Let me refresh your memory...they are the family of Beethoven.  You know, the large St. Bernard that a family of five take in as a house pet.  I don't know if you have noticed, but "Ony" is growing.  She is almost the size of a small horse.  That Golden Retriever smarts I was sure she would possess?  Yea, she's lacking.  But I'll never give up!  Cam loves her too much:)  Cesars Way...you are my new favorite bookmark.  Mission Ony the Perfect Housedog underway!
Wishing you all a very happy week
P.S.  Another holiday is upon us...GET excited!
XOXO

Friday Favorites

Hello Friday, I've been waiting for you!  Don't you just love the feeling of the last thirty minutes at work Friday evening (or maybe Friday isn't for you, but anyday you have off)?  You know the feeling.  You can stay up as late as you want, wake up as late as you please, no one has you on the clock, & the only person you answer to is yourself...or a toddler if your a mommy:)  At least that's how I like for it to be!  I don't know about you, but I am READY!  I may or may not have been daydreaming about playing with Cam, rocking him to sleep (sweetest thing ever), and then crashing with the Mr
& getting our weekend night net flick marathon on.  Hmmmmm.  What will we watch next?;)

Now for Friday favorites with a little bit flashback & Valentine baby love.

Better days are coming...they are called Saturday & Sunday...

Weekend Tales

I don't know about you guys, but we had a busy weekend at our household.  I am pretty sure that I am going to need a full week of snow days just to catch up on rest!  At this rate, that's about as far fetched as the Patriots intercepting a Super Bowl winning pass at the one yard line and taking it home for the win.  Oh wait, that happened!:)  Back to the snow...but, seriously.  I'm usually the optimistic type about these things!  Besides the 5,463 times I said it wasn't going to snow this year...

My hubby doesn't usually like to celebrate his birthday.  In fact, he actually suggested we go to McDonalds this year...  I can't help but get excited about those certain little days that only come around once a year.  Whether it's Christmas, St. Patricks Day, or a birthday, it's fun to do something, anything special or out of the ordinary for the occasion.  It made me smile to come home Thursday evening to hear that he had invited some friends up to eat and play cards for the evening.  He deserved a little relaxing time.  He works so hard to take care of me and Cam and rarely takes time to enjoy the home life.  It was nice.

And to make the day sweeter, Cam wore my pajama pants around his head and a sock over one arm for the majority of the Saturday.  You'd do the same thing if you heard how many times the Mr complained about getting old.  Keep in mind I'm a year older than him...  I'd have to say the last straw had to be when he shared that we could actually be grandparents in as little as 12 years.  Isn't he a doll?  <eye roll>  I almost second guessed all the cleaning, cooking, and preparing of his chili bar feast- complete with these Snicker cupcakes.

I'm thankful for the craziness that is Cade Adams:)  Happy Birthday, Babe!

And because it's Monday, why not share this platter of toddler cuteness?  If you follow my instagram @cassidyadams you've already seen this little wad of football:)  We couldn't decide whether he looked Super Bowl ready or like a mini floating wizard of adorableness (is that a word?)
Happy Monday!
P.S.  If your in the mood for Valentines, stay tuned!
